Saturday 10th February 2007 saw the Chatsworth Farmshop Restaurant at Pilsley go 'live' using our new 'FARE ENOUGH' management software. The existing Bizerba till was replaced with two POSIFLEX infra-red touch-screen terminals both running the new system. Each terminal is connected to it's own order / receipt printer and communicates with a special 'kitchen' printer which receives orders for hot food as required.
The system is managed from the office upstairs using 'Eureka' and the shop managers can maintain the current list of dishes on offer with appropriate pricing and options. At the end of the day sales from each of the food 'sections' within the restaurant are reported against and can be analysed. These special departments include:
- Hot Drinks
- Cold Drinks
- Starters
- Main Courses
- Desserts
Early reports from the staff in the restaurant reveal a number of business benefits. These include:
- Queues at the tills are greatly reduced as individual product lines no longer need to be entered into the till in order for a receipt to be produced.
- All food is now accounted for. There was room for error using the previous system if the list of food which a customer had consumed proved to be incomplete.
- Timings are now available on tickets to inform staff when food orders where placed so to maintain a good standard of service.
- ANY receipt can be reprinted at any time from any terminal as required.
- Errors are minimized in the kitchen by providing a ticket with clear order requirements including quantity and food options.
Senior management in the farmshop too have also reported a number of visible benefits since the new system was introduced, namely:
- A full audit trail of individual transactions is now available for the management and staff should any queries arise regarding either food which was ordered or the means by which the bill was settled.
- Sales reports can be run on live sales figures at any stage during the day.
- 'No Sale' operations can be tracked with ease and each transaction can be traced to a particular operator quickly.
- Setting up new products and / or adding and editing options for food is quick and easy.
- Changes to pricing can be done without leaving the office.
- Full audit trail of custom payment types such as 'Manager Gratuity', 'Discounts', 'Account Payments', etc. can be viewed as and when required.
We will also be introducing wireless touch-screen hand-held units to enable the staff to take orders direct from the table in the coming weeks so it is expected that these will increase efficiency further.
